OUR MISSION

The Young Women's Christian Association of the United States of America is a women's membership movement nourished by its roots in the Christian faith and sustained by the richness of many beliefs and values.  Strengthened by diversity, the Association draws together members who strive to create opportunities for women's growth, leadership and power in order to attain a common vision: peace, justice, freedom and dignity for all people.  The Association will thrust its collective power towards the elimination of Racism wherever it exists and by any means necessary.



For over 20 years The YWCA of Oak Ridge has placed women and children in our confidential shelter of times of need from Domestic Violence.  Located in Anderson County, we serve an eight-county area (Anderson, Campbell, Knox, Loudon, Morgan, Roane, Scott, Union). 

A large help comes from the community and residents of the communities we serve. This last week the community, after status of a portion of our funding sources were made public,  showed their support for the YWCA and we want to say Thank You. 

For those that may be questioning if we are still here, this is what we have to say at this time...
Domestic Violence has not stopped and Neither has the YWCA of Oak Ridge.

Domestic Violence:
Domestic violence is abuse that happens between members of a family or people involved in a close relationship such as a husband and wife, boyfriend and girlfriend, parent and child, and adult children and elderly parents.


Domestic Violence includes physical assault, emotional abuse and sexual abuse.

Once abuse starts, it gets worse and more frequent over time.

Every 15 second in America, a woman is beaten by her husband or boyfriend.

We can even help with finding legal, medical, housing, and childcare (no cost).
